Since 2015, WWX17 has honored the birthday of Waymond II by activating care in his memory—mobilizing winter essentials for our unhoused neighbors with dignity and intention.

The event that started it all, The WayWesX17 Homeless Project Give‑Away stands as the cornerstone of WWX17’s mission and the origin of its justice‑rooted work. 

Now in its eleventh year — and held this year on Waymond II’s birthday — the Give‑Away continues to honor both Wesley and Waymond II through service, presence, and community care. This annual gathering provides winter essentials, survival gear, hygiene kits, and dignity‑centered support to neighbors across Fort Worth, recognizing that you don’t have to be homeless to need help. By showing up for anyone facing hardship, instability, or crisis, the Give‑Away carries forward the legacy that sparked WWX17’s creation and continues to shape its impact across the city.

This year, we’re collecting:

• Personal toiletries

• Sleeping bags, blankets, tents

• Tote bags/backpacks

• Gently used books and toys

• Individually wrapped food & bottled water

• Notes of encouragement—because words restore, too

Every item is more than a donation. It’s a transmission of love, a step toward systemic change, and a reminder that no one is forgotten.
